Imperial Painting Blog #6

Bossk and Porg

To be honest I wasn’t planning on getting anything painted this week.  I was solely focused on getting ready for the Porg tomorrow. As you can see I am three days late in this update, but that is because I have gotten everything done, and a little bit more.  Please understand if this seems a little brief.

First off, I am very happy with this event’s prize Porg. It is a concept I have been working with for a while now, and I feel it came together quite well.

Porg #6

Be fitting his awesomeness Bossk was hand primed black.  His assembly needed no putty work, again because he is that cool.  To paint him I blocked out the main colors: I wanted the yellow and white of the jump suit, for his skin I went with a dark khaki base, with red and gunmetal for the details.  His suit and hardness each got another layer and then I tried contrast paint on the jump suit. I have to say this time I feel like it worked perfectly and was very happy with the effect. The rest of the suit was washed with black ink while the skin and face were washed with brown ink.

Two highlights of bright yellow finished the suit as did two layers of white on the chest piece. The skin was dry brushed with light brown and off white. I did the base with technical paint and then did the highlighting on his gun, and cleaned up detail on the suit.  Bossk’s eyes were cleaned up black and then got a white accent. His mouth is white picked out over red. Some fiddly bits on the suit got painted green just cause and we are done.

On to paining.  I picked up Bossk and Sabine when they were released last week, but only opened them to consolidate space on my desk. I have been informed that I have assembled Bossk the less competitive of his two poses, but I don’t care.  The rule of a cool always wins. After complaining about the Imperial Royal Guard, l think it is important to say how impressive I found the Bossk kit. It was so easy to put together and looked so cool I couldn’t help but paint him.

I also painted my Sabine and did some terrain projets but those will likely be part of next week’s update since this week will be dominated by our sixth Golden Porg.

Hope to see you there!
